Connection

Connection

LOVE is the basis of all connection. So how do you cultivate love within yourself to become a more loving, outgoing, and generous person who contributes to your community?

LOVE is the basis of all connection. So how do you cultivate love within yourself to become a more loving, outgoing, and generous person who contributes to your community?

First and foremost, I believe you must tap into the abundance mindset.

Did you know Stephen Covey coined the term abundance mindset in his 1989 book, The 7 habits of highly effective people? He defined the term simply as ”a concept in which a person believes there are enough resources and successes to share with others.”

With this belief, the idea of competition falls away. Suddenly, everyone is your peer.

From here, assess the landscape.

  • Get CURIOUS
  • Define categories that impact your industry
  • What makes a professional excellent in those categories?
  • Decide who you perceive as excellent?
  • Then, reflect on these questions. How can I be of service? How can I lift others? How can I be a conduit?

Excellence and authenticity typically go hand in hand and if there’s one thing I know to be true, it’s that people, consumers, want an authentic story. I’ve seen this in the wine business, in real estate, and most recently in my gifting business.

What does it mean to be authentic?

I define authenticity as the quality of being real. Add to that originality or uniqueness, deepen the story by being vulnerable, and expressing gratitude. Bottom line, share your story to “build your brand”.

Next up, a very common sense component of connection. Kindness.

Be. kind. always. Remember everyone has bad days. Forgive, forgive some more, and never hold a grudge.

We live in a tightly knit community full of great people. Everyone is doing their best, juggling priorities. I encourage you to see the best in everyone you meet and always be kind.

The last topic I’d like to touch on is humility. Periodically, zoom out of your world, and by that, I mean imagine yourself moving away from the planet, through the atmosphere, looking down at your life, your world. It is humbling to remember we are each a small piece of the energy of the universe and as much as we know, there’s SO much more to learn in an every changing world.

All connection is rooted in love. By embracing an abundance mindset, being mindful of the landscape of professionals in your community, living an authentic life, and sharing your story, being kind and humble, and finding ways to give to your community, connections will come naturally.
